Data is shown as a number of fields for each task and an associated Gantt chart.
You can enter directly to each row:
• Task Name to change its description
• Duration to alter the length of the task. Ensure this does not cause the task to go beyond its specified end date. You may also need to update dependent tasks to fit in with the revised end date.
• Start/Finish dates can be altered by overtyping or clicking to select from the calendar; these changes may affect project constraints and dependent tasks.
• Effort determines the number of days to complete the task and is the maximum number of days to assign. The number may exceed the task length if multiple resources are assigned.
• Allocated shows the number of days that have been allocated to resources out of the total effort.
• Confirmed indicates if the task is confirmed or provisional. Change the setting by selecting from the drop-down list.
• Predecessors identify tasks on which this task is dependent and so allow tracking of dependencies. Input the following dependency types to indicate that the predecessor has to start or finish before this one can start or finish:
o Finish to Start as the task identifier followed by fs or just the task identifier (for example: 1fs or 1)
o Start to Start as the task identifier followed by ss (for example: 1ss)
o Finish to Finish as the task identifier followed by ff (for example: 1ff)
o Start to Finish as the task identifier followed by sf (for example: 1sf)
You can enter multiple dependencies for a task, separating each one by a semicolon (1fs;2fs). Double click a task to access it and view dependency details at the Predecessors tab.
